Ovingdean Diamond Jubilee Street Party 2012

Some of the team have recently moved on the outskirts of Brighton to bring up chickens and live off the land (kinda).
We were invited to our local street party by some of the new friends we have made in the village and thought it might be nice to film the even for the locals (“You’ll never prize this 7D out my hand I tells ya”)

Photo Booth Boutique – Fatboyslim Amex Stadium 2012

We produced a short film for the company ‘Photobooth Boutique’ to show off their new look booth and sponsorship from ‘Fatboy’.

The booth was situated in the new Brighton Amex Stadium in the VIP area of the Fatboyslim gig, we produced a time-lapse of the stand for the whole 8 hours using a Canon 7D with 24-70mm f2.8 and canon remote shooting every 5 seconds.. 400ISO, f7 at 1/100.

Brighton Festival Opening Film

Brighton Festival is the largest arts festival in England and one of the major milestones in international cultural calendar.
We were shortlisted from over 20 companies to produce a launch film to be shown to the worlds media, at the press launch and at the opening night at Brighton Dome.

The film was also streamed to over 5,000 viewers on the website as part of the festivals opening night.

We worked with Chris Challis the Press Officer for Brighton Dome and Brighton Festival 2012 to produce a eye catching video brochure of everything to look forward to in the Festival in May.

A Bit about Premiere
This was the first corporate job we have used solely Adobe Premiere on and have to say we were very impressed with the new (Freddie) Mercury playback engine.. Everything ran on the fly whether it was low quality AVI formats to High quality R3D files they handles them like a dream. Another part of the video that would have taken a lifetime to edit using Final Cut 7 and After Effects was the lines which divide the footage and move it around the screen, they ran incredibly smoothly with the footage and high quality images.

Finally the Light Leaks that came up in the transitions would also require a render every time you wanted to playback in FC7 but again in Premiere they were a charm to work with.

We have been reluctant in the studio to move over to Premiere as it didn’t seem to be professional enough for what we needed it for, there is still a slow integration between AE and Premiere but I think it is getting better and it was a joy to work with on this project.

BathTub Rubs

As we’ve said before we are still producing a 9 hour long video for a company who produce ‘Zen Coaching’ courses so again we have been playing with some creative ideas in our off time.

This is simply an idea Jon had while in the bath, we will use it as part of an upcoming video we are working on for a pitch to MTV in the near future.. more details on that to follow in the early stages of next year.

HOW WE DUN IT:
We basically set up the studio at Jon’s flat in Brighton and handheld a shot of the bubbles but made sure there was a couple of tracking points of high contrast (the plug hole) this will be useful in Mocha for after effects to use as a tracking point. we will be producing some new training videos on tracking and using mocha in the near future.. so look out for them.

Brighton Patch – Timelapse

Since the early 2000’s we have wanted to produce more time=lapse and integrate it into our work more, then in 2008 Bathtub by Keith Loutit was created and blew our ruddy socks off:

Since then he has released a series of new videos, each one as awesome and breath taking as the last.

Our office is based in Brighton (London by the sea some call it) so it would have been rude to not get out there in the sun and get some sexy time-lapse, we don’t have a Tilt-shift lens and don’t think the post production works as well so were happy to mess about with some straight forward time-lapse which we also used in a few of our local video productions.

We will be posting a lot more tutorials soon so please keep an eye out for Tilt-shift tutorials and Time-lapse tutorials when we get them up on our blog.

GoGreen Animation

We have been stuck in the Studio editing a corporate DVD which, when finished with be over 9 hours of footage on 3 DVD’s so we have all been going a little stir crazy.
We got our creative pants on and decided to do a little demo which used the latest in sexy design techniques using textures to produce a short animation.

The idea was to produce something we wanted to be happy with and potentially send to a solar company we have been working with on some Branding previously.

Your Message Made Easy Promotional Video

We have been working with Your Message Made Easy for about 5 years now. Initially back in the day of Web design we produced there website and branding when Mark and the guys were just starting out, they now have a new office in Brighton and some new Blue Chip clients for Radio and TV.

We Produced a video show reel to promote the work that YMME do, It was great fun working on this video as we wanted to push more motion graphics onto our clients and this was the perfect opportunity to do it.

Since the video was made there has been some excellent feedback from the likes of Orcado and other large supermarkets.. Watch this space to see what develops from this colorful fun and interesting promotion for Your Message Made Easy

Bellerbys Oxford

Bellerbys College is the gold standard for international students seeking entry to any one of 50 top UK universities and the largest provider of international students to UK universities.

fly creative was asked to produce a video showing the new Oxford study center including interviews with the students and some of the teachers.

We have produced more videos for Study Group and hope to maintain a long relationship with them, so watch out for more exciting projects.

This video was shot on 2 X Canon 7D’s with Canon EF24-70mm f/2.8L USM and EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM lenses.

Jardin Flambeau

We were invited to film the Jardin Flambeau instillation in Brighton’s St Ann’s Well Garden as part of the Brighton Festival.

We filmed with a crew of 3 shooting on 2 X Canon 7D’s, one with Canon EF24-70mm f/2.8L USM and 2nd camera EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM.

It was such an amazing sight, we have got some amazing feedback and have already had over 3,000 views on Vimeo and Youtube.

“As the sun goes down over one of Brighton’s best loved local landmarks, French outdoor alchemists Compagnie Carabosse fan the flames of our imaginations with an elemental Fire Garden.

St Ann’s Well Gardens may have derived its fame and fortune from its waters – its ancient spring once the centrepiece of an 18th-century health spa – but it is fire that now transforms this most elegant of Brighton’s open spaces.”
